About Rabkinisms

This is a loose collection of essays by me — Mark Rabkin. I've been writing posts & blogs at work for the last 2 decades (mostly at Meta, a bit of Google before that) and I've pulled together some of the top hits that resonated and had staying power.

My most popular theme is on how to maintain and sustain an extreme growth mindset and resilience at work — to shape yourself to the needs of the moment, and to help others grow as a manager.

I started out as a software engineer at Intel on chip design and modeling tools. Then 4 years at Google doing cloud infrastructure and traffic load management (helping scale up and ship Gmail, Docs/Sheets, Maps, Chat, Shopping, and a lot more).

Then 18 years at Meta (née Facebook). First a few years doing backend infrastructure and ML/AI for Ads, then leading engineering for the whole Ads product and business, and then as the GM ("product group lead" in our parlance) for the whole Ads & Business Platform product area. Then, 6 years on Reality Labs leading work for Quest 1, 2, 3, 3S and so many AR/VR/MR experiences and HorizonOS, plus a lot more exciting stuff still in the works!
